xrdp Window Remote Desktop

Windows users should appreciate xrdp that allows access to the Pi with Windows Remote Desktop. We plan to include xrdp in the next image. Thanks to Nate for pointing this out. It is easily installed:
sudo apt-get install xrdp
and seems to "just work" quite well.

problem with xrdp

I can't get my windows RDP to connect to pi
what other stuff needs to be set up from a "cold" system, which haven't used X before?
Try to set this up from ssh

EDIT: found it out myself... I had gatewayserver set up from an old connection. Now it's working.

xrdp

I had the same problem until I went to the Raspberry Pi Configuration screen and entered a password then it would all me past the xrdp screen..

I also discovered while in xrdp you can't access the Raspberry Pi Configuration window it can only be done locally

VNC is the answer (unfortunately)

Use RealVNC - setup VNC server on pi and VNC viewer on Windows machine. One other benefit is you can setup remote access for up to 5 pi's "for free".

VNC

Mark thanks for the tip.... I plan on having 15 hives what do you recommend? I have seen remote.it and Weaved, now rebranded as https://www.remot3.it mentioned

VNC

For local connections, you can make as many VNC connections as you like. For remoting to many places, I haven't thought about that since my hives are in two places and only have three (ish). If you have multiple hives at multiple remote locations, you could set one Pi at up each location using the VNC cloud connection, connect to that box then vnc to the other locals.

I have used teamviewer also, which is free for non-business use. Haven't tried on Pi, but it does work on Linux.
